About Janet
Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Janet studied theatre at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating with a BA in Fine Arts. She began her professional acting career in Atlanta, Georgia, as a star performer at the “Wit's End Cabaret Theater”. She starred in musicals and plays with the Alliance Theatre, Theatre Under the Stars, including Promises, Promises, Norman is That You? She also starred in the comedy film The Bagel Report. While living in Los Angeles, She worked in radio, movies, and television, with guest starring roles on the Bob Newhart Show, WKRP in Cincinnati, The Dukes of Hazard, The Tony Randall Show and more. Movie credits include Being There, The God’s Must Be Crazy, She performed at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, and did comedy improvisation and stand-up at the Comedy Store and the L.A. Improv.
Since moving back to Atlanta Janet has been teaching comedy improv and voice-over technique, leading improv workshops for actors, entertainment functions, team-building for corporations, and in-home parties. She guest starred in several films including Premature, Little Britain USA, and A Merry Friggin Christmas, Robin Williams last movie. She also played Jeff Foxworthy’s wife in Foxworthy’s Big Night Out. She also guest starred in Wonder of the World at the Horizon and Alliance Theatres, and the musicals Something’s Afoot and the Spitfire Grill at the Insight Theatre in St. Louis, MO.
In recent years, Janet has written, produced and directed original one-woman shows: a mixture of biographical short stories, classic cabaret bits, and insightful stand-up on current events. When times get rough it’s time for Janet Wells to make you laugh and cry.
